A smart fuel decision makes all the difference in Monza. David Coulthard catapults off the start line, surging from sixth to third, behind the Benetton of Jean Alesi and the Williams of Heinz-Harald Frentzen. 

When the frontrunners pull into the pits later in the race, Coulthard follows them, even though he still has plenty of fuel on board. It is a decision that makes a huge difference. His quicker pit stop means he is able to exit the pit lane first and win the race, 1.9 seconds ahead of Alesi.
