ExxonMobil and Daimler
The association between Mercedes-Benz, ExxonMobil and the Mobil family of lubricant products goes back a long way to 1909, when the world land speed record was set by a Mobil - lubricated Benz at a speed of 205.7 kph (127.5 mph). In 1915, this teamwork was further rewarded with another win in the Indy 500.The relationship between ExxonMobil and Mercedes-Benz continues today as technology partners for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes in the FIA Formula One World Championship and with Team AMG-Mercedes in the DTM (German Touring Car Masters) series.
Daimler and ExxonMobil extended their relationship and strategic cooperation beyond Motorsport into the areas of research and development of new lubricant technologies, marketing and communications activities, as well as into the initial fill business for Daimler factories and the aftermarket. And today, ExxonMobil is a leading factory filled lubricant supplier and remain the largest lubricant supplier to Daimler's global dealer network.
From its origins in 1886 to the present day, Mercedes-Benz still represents design, innovation and quality of engineering. For more than 100 years, Mobil lubricants have also upheld the same ideals and as a result have been the choice of many pioneers at the forefront of transportation on land, sea and air. Mobil lubricant was used by the Wright brothers in their early flights and later by Charles Lindbergh for his non-stop crossing of the Atlantic in 1927. Mobil lubricants also hold the World Record for a long-haul flight - the 19,000 km
(11,875 miles) non-stop Paris to Auckland flight by an Air France A340, and also provides lubricants for the U.S. Space Shuttle.
Through their engineering and technological successes Mercedes-Benz and ExxonMobil share a successful joint strategic drive for technological leadership and engineering excellence, which has resulted in Mobil 1 being recommended by Mercedes-Benz AMG for all their vehicles.
