Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel head to Japan as the only two drivers still in contention for the title. Vettel leads Button by 124 points, with 125 points still available from the season’s remaining races, meaning Vettel just needs a points finish or for Button not to win and the 2011 title is his.

At one of his favorite circuits, Button – in some of the best form of his career – pulls out yet another extraordinary performance and finishes on the top step of the podium.

Finishing third, Vettel secures enough points to claim his second successive title.

But it is Button’s display at Suzuka which wins praise, including from the 1996 Formula 1™ champion Damon Hill, who says: “Button is now in the sweet spot of his career – he has become like fine wine.”
