Lewis Hamilton survives a scare after brushing the Monaco barriers, but recovers to win a rain-affected race. Hamilton runs wide on lap five, scraping the armco barrier and suffering a puncture in his right-rear tire as a result.
He pits and rejoins in fifth place, but having taken on sufficient fuel for a long middle stint, is able to make his way through the field in the drying track conditions.
Hamilton builds a lead of over 40 seconds, which is enough to rejoin the track ahead of Renault's Robert Kubica and Ferrari's Felipe Massa after his late pitstop.
