Lewis Hamilton’s impressive start continues with a sixth successive podium place, but this time it is also a first victory in Formula 1™ for the 22-year-old from Hertfordshire, England.
Hamilton starts from the front, his first pole, with Fernando Alonso alongside him. Hamilton leads from the start, but in trying to pass him, Alonso runs wide at turn one, the first of several off-road trips for the Spaniard.
Hamilton pulls away from Nick Heidfeld in second, and despite the safety car being called out on four separate occasions in a stop-start race, including a death-defying crash involving Robert Kubica, Hamilton keeps his cool to take his first checkered flag.
