David Coulthard pulls out an incredible performance from fifth on the grid to seal one of the most memorable wins of his career.

McLaren Mercedes gamble on rain and set up Coulthard’s car for wet weather. When it duly arrives, Coulthard swiftly masters the conditions, and on lap 50 gambles again with a breathtaking manoeuvre, cutting inside a backmarker to claim the lead while rival Michael Schumacher labours around the outside.

It’s a stunning overtake reminiscent of Hakkinen’s bold move on the German driver at Spa the previous season.
